IILT's Dave Lordan wins Patrick Kavanagh Award 2005

Dave Lordan, teacher and 'Poet in Residence' at IILT's Ballsbridge centre, has won the prestigious Patrick Kavanagh Award for his collection of poems 'The Boy in the Ring'. The award was presented to Dave at a ceremony in Iniskeen, Co Monaghan, Patrick Kavanagh's birthplace.
Previous winners of the award, sponsored by KPMG, include Paul Durcan, Aidan Mathews, Peter Sirr, Tom O'Malley, Conor O'Callaghan and Bill Tinley.
Dave has organised poetry workshops in IILT, Dublin, and a measure of the high level of interest in creative interest among the students is the success of the recent IILT Poetry Prize 2005, with over 30 entries.
