Materials developed by teachers for teachers

In IILT materials are developed to meet learner needs on an ongoing basis.

Some of our material has been published in the form of resource books for tutors of adult learners of English See our resource book section

A wide range of material is available for download free for use by tutors in the Teaching Materials and Activities part of our Tutors of Adult Learners section. This material is stored in a searchable database. Material ranges from short worksheets to complete modules at 6 levels, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages covering a wide range of topics of interest to adult migrants living and working in Ireland.

Much of this material is based on the Milestone European Language Portfolio. There is also material for use in preparation and assessment for FETAC ESOL Levels 3, 4, and 5, and FETAC Computer Literacy and Preparation for Work at Level 3.

You must be registered and logged in to access this material. You can register using the Member Login box on the right of the webpage. When you register please allow up to 24 hours for your profile to be activated - you will receive email confirmation.

Material suitable for Literacy Support for ESOL is available free for download in our Literacy Support for ESOL section.

Former students regularly visit classes in the school for question and answer sessions with current students on what they did after IILT. These sessions are very popular and provide a real source of motivation and practical advice on careers and further education. Students write reports on these sessions and post them in our Former students talk about careers in Ireland section. These real life case studies are very useful to promote discussion and motivate learners.
